Marianne B. Nevels, (72) of Delray Beach FL, passed away 9-20-18, succumbing to an illness. Marianne was a graduate of Seacrest High School (1964) and Palm Beach Junior College, where she obtained her nursing degree. She has been an active member of the medical community in Palm Beach County since the 1960’s, having worked in the ED at Bethesda Memorial Hospital, JFK Medical Center, and Delray Medical Center, as well as for many home health agencies and doctor’s offices.
Marianne was a vibrant, active person who exhibited daily, her care and compassion for her patients and staff. She was the first Emergency Department Director at Delray Medical Center, having employed there since the hospital opened. Marianne was defined to a large degree by her career; but her compassion and dedication was not limited to the workplace. She was a loving daughter, sister, aunt, friend, and stand in mother. Her greatest enjoyment in life was solely from caring for and helping her extended family.
Marianne is survived by sister and brother-in-law, Jane Nevels Freitag and Stan Freitag; her niece, Meghan C. Nevels; nephew Nicholes Aspenwall; nephew and wife, Matthew Aspenwall and Catherine Dubin Aspenwell, and great nieces and nephew, Hailey, Savannah, Olivia, and Mason Aspenwall. She will also be leaving behind her four-legged children, Basil, Wednesday, and Nella.
Marianne was “Ma” to those who knew her well. She was the most giving person with the deepest compassion for not only people, but for animals as well, caring for them as though they were her own. She has left this world to join her family who have preceded her in death: mother and father, Mary C. Nevels and James H. Nevels, sister Cynthia C. Nevels, and little brother, James N. Nevels.
She will be dearly missed by all who were lucky enough to have known her. Rest in Peace, Marianne; and watch over us with that Beautiful Smile.
