Maria G. Henriquez Decolindres

Maria G. Henriquez Decolindres, 72, of Delray Beach passed away on Friday, January 27, 2023.

Born in Pueblo Viejo Gregoria Henriquez Aleman, known as Goya to her family , was raised in the rural, rustic life of Olancho, Honduras. As she grew up she matured in the skills necessary to homemaking and became supportive member of the local community.

In 1967 she met and married Miquel Colindres, a hard working farmer and rancher. At this time Maria established a small "tienda" selling footwear in central Culmi. Maria raised her growing family of two sons and five daughters giving each the opportunity to further themselves and seek success outside of the pueblo of Culmi. Each of the children, with their mothers support, was encouraged to migrate to the capital of Tegucigalpa to earn and learn. All the children were successful in doing so. Maria also established a home in the capital and attended to her grandchildren from a small house in Las Lomas de San Juan. As her daughters and son immigrated to the United States there was a strong desire for both Maria and Miguel to follow and become United States citizens and to be with her five daughters and son. Her new family in the U.S. welcomed her and assisted in this challenging cultural transition. Ultimately, Maria and Miguel settled in Delray Beach near her five daughters and son. A strong woman, Maria continued to support her family when and where needed; from baby sitting to cleaning and cooking for the kids, and grandchildren. Throughout her life Maria was a family oriented loving mother, aunt, and friend to many. A faithful friend to those people in her life, she had tremendous goodness in her heart. She enjoyed the numerous family bar-b-ques and holidays with genuine love and care for everyone that surrounded her. She will be deeply missed by her the family and friends whose lives she has touched.
