Luis Alberto Salinas, known fondly as Lucho or Ricky to many, passed away on the evening of Monday, March 18, 2024.
Born in Lima, Peru on June 19, 1949, Luis was one of nine children to Rolando Salinas and Genoveva Clavijo. He immigrated to the United States as a young adult and spent many memorable years in the restaurant industry in both New York City and the greater Washington area, eventually becoming a proud restaurateur and, later, a supplier to the industry. In recent years, Luis relocated to Florida where he continued his business endeavors and pursued his passion for storytelling, completing an autobiographical novel as well as writing and producing several songs.
Luis is survived by his five loving children and their spouses (Katherine and J.J. Von Vogler of Lorton, VA; Adrianna and Lucas Spivey of Houston, TX; Paola and Craig Wagner of New York City, NY; Ricardo and Micaela Salinas of Annandale, VA; and Kira and Michael Doumas of Annandale, VA), 11 grandchildren, and two great-grandchildren.
A Celebration of Life will be held from 10AM-Noon on Saturday, April 6 at Glick Family Funeral Home in Boca Raton.
In lieu of flowers, we ask that a donation be made in his honor to Truth Initiative or Campaign for Tobacco-Free Kids, which are organizations dedicated to reducing the use of tobacco and nicotine, especially amongst youth.
