A Life Well-Lived
Born May 7, 1928, in Wolf Point, Montana, Lisa died peacefully in her sleep at home in Boca Raton, Florida, October 11, 2020. Lisa spent her early years with her hard-working parents and six siblings in Terry, Montana, a tiny town that she always said opened her eyes to the wider world of human nature and behavior. Just before high school, she and her family moved to Redondo Beach, California, where she experienced the wonder of living atop a pier above the Pacific Ocean. And, where as a freshman, she met Sam Owen, the man she’d eventually marry in 1949. They shared an amazing 71 years together—making homes and adventures in California, Virginia, Alabama, Texas, and Florida.
Lisa embraced her family and friends—and life—with seemingly inexhaustible loving-kindness and care. She had energy, determination, and practical wisdom to spare. She also cooked up a storm and did her best to make sure our bodies and our hearts were truly nourished. Above all, Lisa strove mightily to share the love and grace that flowed from her deep, abiding faith in God.
In addition to her devoted husband, Sam, Lisa is survived by her sons and their spouses: Mark & Kay and Kent & Bill; as well as her three grandchildren, their spouses, and her four great-grandchilren: Scott & Elise (Liam, Elliott, and Andrew); Elizabeth & Sean (Luke); and James. In addition, Lisa is survived by her sister, Lulu Drake, and numerous nieces and nephews.
