Linda J Lane (nee Ford), of Boca Raton, FL., died March 24th, 2021 at the age of 91. She was born in Detroit, Mich. on June 6th, 1929 to Mellita and Fred A. Ford.
Linda graduated from Dominican High School, Siena Heights college, and WSU (Wayne State University) as a registered Pharmacist. She was President of the Pharmacy Fraternity Lambda Kappa Sigma local and Alumni Chapters while at WSU. She worked as a Pharmacist at Children’s Hospital, at Old St. Marys and at Parke, Davis & Co., all in Detroit. She met her husband, Alexander Lane at a graduate course at WSU and they were married in 1956.
Career moves were to Ann Arbor (1960), to Chelsea, MI (1966), to Fayetteville, NY (1970), to Marcellus, NY (1973), and to Glen Ridge NJ (1977) where they remained until retirement (1994) in Boca Raton, FL.
Flowers, Art and Croquet were important in Linda’s life. She was accomplished in oils and watercolors and an active supporter of Art Museums in Montclair and Boca Raton. She loved gardening, was a Certified Judge in Flower and Design shows and an active supporter of the Boca Raton Garden Club. She loved the sport of Croquet, was President of the Green Gables Croquet Club in Spring Lake, NJ, and the Boca Raton Club, a Certified Referee, and supporter of the Croquet Foundation and Club of Florida. Her kind help, gracious manner and knowledge of the sport were valued by players at all levels of play. She shared her expertise, interest and enthusiasm with members throughout Florida, NY and NJ.
Linda was preceded in death by her parents, one brother Frederick Ford (Irene) and one sister Sandra Wishart (James). She is survived by her husband of 65 years Dr. Alexander Lane, two brothers Andrew Ford of Chelsea, Mich. and Gregory Ford of Arlington Heights, Illinois and many nieces and nephews.
A memorial mass will be held at St. Joan of Arc Catholic Church on June 12th (10:30 AM) with a luncheon reception to follow at Royal Palm Yacht and Country Club.
Donations in lieu of flowers may be made to St. Jude’s Children’s Research Hospital.
