Lauren Patricia (Scott) Esnes, 65, of Boca Raton, Florida, passed away on October 24, 2023. She was born on March 21, 1958, in Queens, New York, to Carol Scott and her first husband, the late Robert Watt. Carol was later re-married to George Scott, who officially adopted Lauren in 1969.
Lauren graduated from New Hyde Park Memorial High School in 1976 and later earned a Bachelor of Science in Chemical Engineering in 1980 from The Cooper Union.
Lauren met her soulmate, best friend, and husband of 40 years, Eugene Esnes, when they were in elementary school. They lived blocks from each other and walked to school together through high school. They both attended The Cooper Union, where friendship turned to true love, and soon after they were married. Their unconditional love was the truest example of dedication – an inseparable team that never wavered. They both worked for Bechtel Power straight out of college. Later, together, they built multiple businesses from hair salons to candy shops and their greatest feat, LPE Enterprises, Ltd., Lauren Esnes, President.
In search of warmer weather, Lauren and Gene moved from Long Island, NY, to Boca Raton, FL, with their two daughters. They always appreciated the beauty that surrounded them in a place they never felt luckier to be – “this is where people come for vacation, and we get to live here,” they’d say.
Lauren, a strong, brilliant, fearless and funny business-minded individual was known for her passion, sincere interest in all people and endless generosity. She was a force – a go-getter who was never one to chase the spotlight, but it somehow always found her. Always full of adventure, Lauren had a passion for seeing the world and showing it to her loved ones in a way that could only be described as epic and truly unforgettable.
Lauren also just enjoyed spending time with family and friends, indulging in fine wine (but the house Pinot Grigio would always do), and hosting parties of all shapes and sizes like none other. She cherished every moment with her loved ones and never failed in her dedication to creating lasting memories.
Unbeknownst to most people, Lauren had been battling breast cancer for many years. Her journey originated in 2001. It was Lauren’s desire to keep this very personal – a protective instinct for their young girls at the time, but also the desire not to be referred to as “Lauren, with cancer”. She did not want to be conversation for cancer, rather, the person that everyone would see as an individual, spouse, mother, friend, or businesswoman.
However, her battle continued. Particularly, the last six years were extremely difficult. Unfortunately, Lauren’s cancer took an unexpected turn into a prognosis she could no longer defeat.
Lauren will be deeply missed by her beloved husband, Eugene Esnes, her daughters Ashley (Esnes) Becker and Erin (Esnes) Hopkins, her mother Carol Scott, and her younger sisters Rhonda Hanlon and Stacey Fritz. She was preceded in death by her father, George Scott.
The family has entrusted the arrangements to Glick Family Funeral Home in Boca Raton, where a visitation will be held from 5-8 PM on Friday, November 10th, with a Celebration of Life Service beginning at 7:00 PM. A Funeral Mass will be held at 11:00 AM on Saturday, November 11th, at St. Joan of Arc Catholic Church in Boca Raton.
