Klaus Gehring Obituary

Klaus Christian Gehring, beloved husband, father, grandfather, brother, and friend, passed away peacefully on May 28, 2026, in Boca Raton, Florida, at the age of 90.

Born on April 8, 1936, in Pforzheim, Germany, Klaus spent his childhood during the difficult years of World War II. Those early experiences helped shape the resilience, determination, and appreciation for life that would define him throughout his remarkable journey.

After completing his Abitur, Klaus embarked on the first of many adventures. Eager to perfect his English and experience the world beyond Germany, he moved to London, England, where he worked at the renowned Foyle’s Bookstore. During this memorable chapter of his life, he had the unique opportunity to meet Orson Welles, an encounter he would fondly remember.

His second great adventure took him across the Atlantic to South America. Klaus began his international career with Bauer and later joined H. Stern Jewelers, where he served as a General Manager in Colombia. His work brought him throughout South America, particularly Brazil, and later to the Caribbean, where he spent two years overseeing operations. He was admired by colleagues, assistants, secretaries, and employees alike for his integrity, kindness, leadership, and exceptional work ethic. Many remained in close contact with him throughout his life, a testament to the respect and affection he inspired.

While living in Colombia, Klaus met the love of his life and lifelong spouse Elena Gehring. Together they built a loving family and shared a deep partnership that endured for decades. Their greatest joy was raising their two daughters, Claudia and Monica.

Klaus is survived by his beloved lifelong wife , Elena Gehring; his daughters, Claudia Gehring and Monica Creighton Gehring; his son-in-law, Victor Creighton; and his cherished grandchildren, Alexander Creighton and Kaley Creighton. He is also survived by his brother, Guenter Gehring and Christiane, Johannes and Anna Luisa , and his sister, Doris Gehring Switalski and her son Patrick .

In retirement, Klaus made his home in Boca Raton and Delray Beach, Florida, where he enjoyed spending time with family and friends. He liked to play tennis and golf and remained passionate about travel, always eager to explore new places and cultures. His warmth, curiosity, generosity, and gentle spirit enriched the lives of all who knew him.

Klaus will be remembered for his devotion to family, his professional excellence, and the kindness and respect he showed to everyone he met.
