Kevin Walsh Sr. Obituary
Kevin Leonard Walsh Sr., 79, of Delray Beach, Florida, died on May 19, 2023, of congestive heart failure. Kevin and his wife, Su-Hsin, recently relocated to Florida from Newton, MA.
Kevin was born on October 24, 1943, to Norman and Rita Connor Walsh in Brewer, Maine. He graduated from Pemetic High School in Southwest Harbor in 1962, and went on to work at The Prudential, American Express, and Mellon Bank in computer programming and various IT management positions for Fortune 500 companies. He later worked for their own real estate company Move2Boston Group.
Kevin is survived by the love of his life, Su-Hsin Hsu (Susie), whom he married in 2001. Kevin is also survived by sister Clarice and husband Bill, brother-in-law Art Kane; his seven children including daughter Susan Demeritt and fiancé William Bourque, son Kevin Leonard Walsh Jr. and wife Debbie, daughter Erin Mandell, son Benjamin Walsh and wife Genevieve, son Joseph Walsh, stepdaughter Alice Chen and husband Jeremy, and stepson Andrew Chen, as well as 13 grandchildren: Kate, Jacob, Ben Jr., Arla, Patrick, Emily, Brigid, Leonard, Charlotte, Lucy, Theresa, Cameron, and Evan.
Kevin was preceded in death by parents Norman and Rita, and siblings Terrance and wife Alice, David and wife Marsha, Paul and wife Thelma, and sister Rita Kane.
Kevin was known as Dad, Brother, Uncle, Grandpa, and Mr. K. However, it was his generosity, humor and ability to add levity that will be remembered most. His love for his wife, travel, shopping (for others), fine food, and fun times created with others are documented well in the hearts and minds of everyone who called him Friend.
He shared the luck of the Irish, his wisdom from world traditions, and a smile and laugh for anyone in need of it. From slapstick humor to philosophy, his ability to connect with others was one of his greatest gifts. He passed on his love of nature and the great outdoors through his stories of world travel. His bucket list was big, but he checked them off, he saw the Great Wall of China and did so much more. He never ceased to inspire us, and his memory will keep that inspiration alive. He will be greatly missed.
A visitation will be held from 3-4 PM on Friday, June 9, with a 4 PM Catholic service to follow in the chapel, at Glick Family Funeral Home in Boca Raton, FL. A memorial service will be held in the Boston area on July 22, location to be named at later time.
