Kevin David Powell, 20, of Highland Beach, FL, passed away suddenly on Saturday, October 23, 2021, near his home. He is survived by his parents, Mary Suzanne and David Powell and his sister, Brooke also of Highland Beach, brothers Mike and Mark Powell and grandparents, Lou and Neil Powell. Also surviving are 16 aunts and uncles, 15 first cousins and a remarkably large and loving extended family. Kevin was predeceased by his cousin Cameron Gallagher and maternal grandparents, Kathleen and Homer Handy.
Kevin graduated from North Broward Prep and studied engineering at Northeastern University in Boston. With an intensely sharp intellect and quick wit, Kevin foraged for solutions to the most complex of challenges whether a robotics conundrum or organizing a social event for his many devoted friends.
A lifelong sailor, who loved watersports and fishing, Kevin’s athletic prowess served him well as he immersed himself in his beloved South Florida lifestyle. His passion above all else, however, was racing, speed, studying, and building motors.
Kevin lived a faith that inspires his family and community to face the nearly unbearable task of surviving him. A favorite scripture provides much solace; I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me. (Philippians 4:13)
Visitation will take place on Wednesday, October 27, 2021, from 4 to 7pm at Glick Family Funeral Home, 3600 N. Federal HWY, Boca Raton, Florida where a brief Christian Wake will take place at 6:30pm.
