It is with great sadness that the family shares the passing of Kenneth John Paulsen, 60, of Boca Raton, FL, on January 16, 2025.
Ken was the beloved son of the late John and Thelma Paulsen. He was the loving brother of his sisters, Susan (Richard) Pope and Donna (John) Mancini and the dear uncle of Richard and Catheryn Pope, Alexa (Matthew) Brinckman, Gianna, Juliet and Johnny Mancini.
Ken brought light and joy into every room he entered and accomplished amazing things in his time with us, doing so with the greatest humility. He began his academic career pursuing architectural studies at Tulane University before earning his B.S. in economics and finance from the Catholic University of America, where he also volunteered and served as a Eucharistic minister. He later went on to earn his M.B.A. from Florida Atlantic University and enjoyed a career in finance.
Ken embraced life with deep curiosity and wonder and continued to take courses in a variety of subjects that interested him even after accomplishing his degrees. He was a member and served as grand knight for the St Joan of Arc Knights of Columbus. His sharp intellect was undeniable and he was a proud member of Mensa International, the world’s largest and oldest high-IQ society. Kenny lived life to the fullest embracing each of his passions and hobbies with enthusiasm and dedication. His interests included politics, economic and cultural world affairs, international cuisines, music and travel. Always an adventurer, as a young man he played Rugby and was an avid fan of Polo, playing for a time on a local team in Maryland. His love for aviation and military history was a tribute to his father and led him to become a pilot, with an instrument rating to fly both helicopters as well as single and twin engine planes. Ken will be remembered for his quiet confidence, his sharp wit, his love for his family, God and country, his empathy and kindness, his fighting spirit and fierce dedication to everything he put his heart into. His ability to meet every challenge with infallible optimism will continue to inspire all who knew him.
For so many, Ken will be deeply loved and missed forever.
Funeral services will be held at St. Joan of Arc Catholic Church, 370 SW 3rd St, in Boca Raton, FL on Friday February 7, 2025 at 1:30 pm. Internment will follow at Boca Raton Mausoleum, 451 SW 4th Ave in Boca Raton, FL.
