With heavy hearts and uplifted spirits, we celebrate the radiant life of Kelly Ann Tucker, a beloved mother, devoted daughter and sister, and affectionate aunt, who passed into peace on July 6th, 2025, at the age of 64. Though her time with us was far too short, Kelly lived her life with an adventurous nature, determination, kindness, and grace. She has left a lasting imprint on every heart she touched.
Kelly was born in Washington, D.C. and grew up in Hammonton, New Jersey. She attended Virginia Commonwealth University in Richmond, Virginia and after graduating moved to Northern Virginia where she began a successful 20-year career at Datatel, holding positions in account management, sales and product marketing. Kelly later held leadership sales and account management positions at AOL, Oracle, Adobe, Trend Micro, and Apple.
Kelly lived a full and joyful life. Her favorite saying was ‘carpe diem’ and she whole-heartedly seized every day to its fullest. She was the best mother, sister, daughter, aunt and friend you could ask for and her generosity and compassion has been felt deeply by her family and friends, creating a lasting impression on so many. Growing up in New Jersey, Kelly nurtured a special love of the beach and outdoors. She enjoyed watching movies, physical fitness, and spending time with her son, Julian, who was her hero.
Kelly was a mother first, in every sense of the word. Her son, Julian, was her greatest joy. Whether she was watching their favorite movie for the hundredth time or dancing around in the kitchen with him to their favorite music, Kelly brought her unconditional love and steadfast presence, nurturing a bond they shared in life that will live on through Julian.
As the daughter of Catherine and Bill Parkhurst she was generous. Kelly made it her mission to create memorable moments with them, like the care she took in arranging the perfect table in advance at a restaurant where they planned to dine.
As the sister of Laura and Kirk, Kelly had a boundless supply of love and laughter—remembering every birthday, cheering loudly for every milestone, and being present whenever they needed her. She gave freely and loved deeply, never letting her siblings forget how much she cared for them and their children.
To her nieces and nephews, Aunt Kelly was an unwavering supporter dispensing hugs and showing up for all their important moments, however she could. Kelly made sure they knew how much she treasured being their aunt.
Kelly had a special way of making her friends feel lighter just by being near them. Her laughter and outgoing personality were contagious, and her spirit unbreakable. She was loyal and protective to the end.
Kelly leaves behind a family that loved her beyond words: her beloved son Julian Tucker, her parents Catherine and Bill Parkhurst, siblings Kirk Reid and Laura Rhodes, sister-in-law Catherine Reid, her nieces Lexi and Evie Rhodes, Callie Reid and her nephew Connor Reid. Kelly also gave and received joy from her wide circle of friends and colleagues gathered throughout her rewarding career. She is also survived by her former spouse and lifelong friend, Ron Tucker, who was always there for her and their son, Julian, especially during her time of greatest need.
Though Kelly will be profoundly missed, we are thankful—for the depth of her heart, for the memories etched forever in our hearts, and for the light that continues to shine brightly through her son, her family and her many friends.
Kelly Tucker’s story ended too soon, but it was beautifully written. She gave us unconditional love, danced with delight, and played an important role in our own stories. We will carry her joy forward—and may her spirit dance with the wind and rest in the arms of peace.
A memorial service for Kelly will be held at a later date in Northern Virginia.
