Karen Frances Faber Obituary

It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of Karen Frances Woodside Faber on February 21,2025 at the age of 63. She passed peacefully with her family by her side in Boca Raton, Florida. Fran was born in Alexandria, Virginia on the Fourth of July 1961, to Robert and Marguerite Woodside. She grew up in Maryland where she graduated from Bowie High School and then studied at Prince George’s Community College.

She moved to south Florida in the 1980’s where she pursued a career in the hospitality industry. Fran was ideally suited for that work because she truly loved people. It was there she met her future husband, John, in 1991. They married in 1995 and had the great fortune of raising two beautiful daughters, Avery and Hadleigh.

Fran touched everyone she met. She was always willing to help any one of her many friends at any time. She had the natural ability to light up every room she entered with her beautiful smile, warmest of hearts, and great sense of humor.

She loved family and family reunions. The beach was always number one on her list. From summers in Ocean City, Maryland to girls’ day at the beach in Boca Raton, Florida, Franny enjoyed planning them out as much as she did attending them. She loved holiday traditions, hosting elaborate Thanksgiving and Christmas dinners or planning a big Fourth of July Celebration. She enjoyed attending music festivals and was a big fan of country music and John Denver. Annual Hawaiian gatherings in Ft Lauderdale at “The Hukilau”, or enjoying a quiet moment outdoors, were favorites as well.

Fran was a member at St Paul Lutheran Church in Boca Raton. She was actively involved in her children’s activities and education at the St Paul Lutheran School, as well as an active member of the Mom’s Group.

She adored animals, her dogs Odie and Cooper, and the many pets she would board at her house over the years for friends who were traveling.

The love and kindness she had for everyone was unboundless.

Fran is survived by her husband John, her daughters Avery and Hadleigh, and her granddaughter Aaliyah.  She is also survived by her brothers Don, Jeff, Rob, Robert, Doug and Dave, and her sister Barbara.

The family will be receiving friends at Glick Family Funeral Home in Boca Raton, FL on Saturday, March 22nd, from 10-11:30am. A funeral service will then be held at 11:30am at the funeral home. Immediately following the funeral, Fran will be laid to rest at the Boca Raton City Cemetery. In honor of Fran, please wear colorful attire.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in Fran's honor to establish an educational fund for her current and future grandchildren. Please click on the above or below donation tab to donate.
