Joseph Francis Keeley, III of Boca Raton, Florida passed away on Wednesday, June 16th at the age of 75 with his family by his side.
Joe was born on February 1st, 1946 to loving parents Millicent (Donlon) Keeley and Joseph Francis Keeley, Jr. He was born in Bridgeport, Connecticut, but his parents relocated to Miami Shores when he was only a few months old and he would remain in the South Florida area for the rest of his life. He was a true Floridian.
As a young man, Joe enjoyed competitive sailing and became a Junior National Champion in 1961 at the age of 15. He continued sailing in his high school years and would go on to win several more competitions.
Joe attended The University of Florida and was a proud member of the Delta Tau Delta Fraternity. He would later attend The University of Miami where he would earn his law degree and go on to practice law for over 40 years.
In August, 1970, he was set up on a blind date with Colleen Devaney. They quickly realized that they were the love of each other’s lives and were married on May 6th, 1972. They were blessed with three children, Joseph Francis IV, James Patrick and Colleen Aisling.
Joe had a brilliant legal mind and was committed to his practice, but his wife and children were always his first priority.
Joe is awaited by his wife, Colleen Jean Keeley and their daughter, Colleen Aisling Keeley. He is survived by his son and daughter-in-law, Joseph Francis IV and Elizabeth and grandson Joseph Francis V, and his son and daughter-in-law James and Kathryn and granddaughters; Maren, Keeten, and Rowen. He was the oldest of 5 siblings and is awaited by Laurel Keeley and survived by Robin, Shawn and Don Keeley. He will also be missed by his brother and sister-in-law Patrick and Tracy, and niece and nephew Kathleen and Patrick Devaney.
Joe will be remembered as a kind man and a true gentleman.
