Joseph John Hand

Joseph John Hand of Delray Beach passed away peacefully at his home surrounded by his family on Tuesday, January 1, 2019.  He was 78 years old.  Joe was born and raised in Paterson, New Jersey and enlisted in the Army in 1962.  While stationed in Oklahoma, he met and married his life partner, Jewell Y. Foster.   After his military career, Joe and his wife Jewell purchased a small travel agency in Wyckoff, NJ.  Joe’s outgoing personality, his love of life and love of people enabled him and Jewell to run a very successful business for the next 30 years.  Joe retired in 2003; and he and Jewell made South Florida their permanent home.

Joseph Hand was a man with a big heart.  He loved his family deeply and was someone who was always available to give a helping hand.  He adored his grandchildren and always looked forward to the times he could spend with his family.  When life permitted, Joe loved to spend his time hunting and fishing.  His pride and joy was always his family; he is survived by his devoted wife of 54 years, Jewell; his daughter and son-in-law, Tammy and Joe Toscano, his daughter and daughter-in-law, Tara Hand and Mary Coyle and his precious grandchildren, Samantha and Benjamin Toscano and Ryan and Tyler Hand-Coyle.

Visitation and the Viewing will take place on Friday, January 4th, 2019 beginning at 10:00am at Glick Family Funeral Home in Boca Raton and the funeral service will start at 12 Noon.    Following the service, a procession will take place to South Florida National Cemetery where Joe will be laid to rest with Military Funeral Honors.  In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Disabled American Veterans and Vitas Healthcare.
