John Raymond Vitha

John Raymond Vitha, resident of Delray Beach, Florida died on July 6, 2018.  He was 83 years old.  Son of Norman Vitha and Helen Wagner, he was born in Chicago, Illinois on June 5, 1935. 

He met his wife, Ranamary Gallagher, at Marquette University, where he received a Bachelor of Arts degree in 1957.  John is survived by his loving wife, Ranamary, son James Robert and wife Cathy, daughter Susan Kathryn and husband James Garland, son John Raymond II and wife Judy, and daughter Patricia Ann and husband Wayne F. Smith, seven grandchildren, one grandson-in-law, and one great granddaughter.  John is predeceased by his parents and his brother, Terrence.

John was in the printing/publishing industry for his entire life, following in the footsteps of his father at R.R. Donnelley & Sons.  He entered the sales end of the business, selling printing contracts, and in 1964, he moved his young family to Glen Ridge, NJ, where he continued his career in New York City.  His printing clients included Time In., McGraw-Hill and their many publications.

Taking the DeCamp bus into NYC every day, he built his sales career with grit and determination, knowledge of the printing industry, and personal relationships with his many clients.  Raising his young family in Glen Ridge, NJ, John and Ranamary enjoyed not only the small town life of their home town, but the rich culture of nearby New York City.

His career in the printing industry took him to Providence, Rhode Island for six years.  Living in Portsmouth, RI provided John and his family many delightful times sailing the Sakonnet River and dining in nearby Newport.  John and Ranamary returned to New York City in 1987, spending thirteen years working and living on the Upper East Side.

Upon retirement, John and Ranamary moved to Delray Beach, FL, where they enjoyed life travelling, socializing with friends at the Delray Beach Club, being part of the St. Lucy Catholic Church community, and spending time with their grandchildren.

Visitation will be held on Tuesday, July 10, 2018 at Glick Family Funeral Home from 4:00 to 7:00 PM.  A funeral Mass will be celebrated on Wednesday, July 11th at 10:00 AM at St. Lucy Catholic Church in Highland Beach.  Burial will follow at Boca Raton Cemetery.
