John Fogg Pastore, 80, “A Life Filled with Laughter, Love, Song and Dance”
John Fogg Pastore’s adventure in this life ended peacefully on November 5, 2025. Born on March 7, 1945, in Pelham, New York, John lived a life defined by energy, kindness, an adventurous spirit, and a boundless love for people.
John graduated from Pelham High School in New York in 1963 followed by the University of Vermont where he graduated in 1967. He then married Jennifer Griggs in 1967 before valiantly serving our country in Vietnam and when he returned, they had two wonderful children, John and Kate.
An early entrepreneur with a knack for seeing possibilities where others saw obstacles, John was able to sell anything to anyone starting with woven potholders that his sister made when they were young children. After losing his father unexpectedly when he was just four years old, John found deep meaning in helping others protect their families so they didn’t have to go through what he, his sister and his widowed mom had to face. That passion led him to a lifelong career in life insurance, where he became known not just for his success, but for the genuine care and trust he inspired in those he served.
John built his life around creativity, hard work, and human connection. Whether he was launching a new venture or hosting a gathering of friends, his mission was always the same — to help people have their most fun and to make the world a little brighter in the process.
John’s love of life was contagious. Whether through his work, his friendships, or the parties he threw, John brought joy wherever he went. He was a natural performer—an amazing dancer both formally and just for fun—and could light up a dance floor like few others. He absolutely loved public speaking and thrived when in front of groups of people. He was a skilled pool player and had a soulful voice and a love for music. He was especially known for singing Willie Nelson songs—so perfectly that anyone listening might have sworn it was Willie himself.
John was predeceased by his parents, John Baptist Pastore and Alice Fogg Wyman (Pastore), and his 2nd wife, Elaine Lerner Pastore. He is survived by his son, John (wife, Julie), his daughter, Kate (partner, Rick), his sister, Susan Chapin (Dave), niece, Kelly Chapin (Earl), nephew, Doug Chapin (Sandra) and their children, Mackenzie and Nick, a special friend, Farouq Ghory who was like a son to him, as well as John’s fiance, Linda Radriquez, and her children and grandchildren, all of whom held a treasured place in his heart.
Those who knew John will remember him as someone who embraced every moment, celebrated every joy, and made everyone around him feel seen, appreciated, and alive. His laughter, his rhythm, and his love of life will continue to dance on in the hearts of those he touched. We are thankful he is in paradise in the arms of our Lord Jesus Christ.
In lieu of flowers, donations to the American Cancer Society would be greatly appreciated.
