John Morabito Obituary

John Joseph Morabito slipped into the arms of our heavenly Father just in time for his morning tee time in Heaven on Thursday, March 21, 2024.  He was at home surrounded by the everlasting love of his wife, daughter, and grandson.

Born on January 19, 1946 in Tarrytown, N.Y., John was the middle child of Joseph and Yolanda Morabito.  John is predeceased by his older brother Joe and younger brother Jimmy and joins them in Heaven, although they surely won’t be joining him on the golf course!

John was a long time resident of Peekskill, N.Y. where he went to high school, and where he was a recognizable member of the community.  Like his two brothers, John was drafted and served in the U.S. army and subsequently became a plumber by trade and a project manager at Indian Point III in Buchanan, N.Y. where he worked for 30 years.  Later in life, John became an author and published 13 books which he loved to talk about with friends and family.

In 1972, John married the love of his life, Joan Gordon, and together, they built a family and life filled with love and laughter.  John was a devoted father to his eldest son John, middle son Daniel, and daughter Morgan.  He was a cherished grandfather to his bigger-than-life grandson Urijah and sweet-as-a-button granddaughter Oona Fae.

John brought smiles and laughs to those that entered his life with his charisma, quick wit, and humor.  He loved to forge relationships all throughout his life from the early Peekskill days, the days working at Indian Point, to playing with the Herd at Mohansic Golf Club, to the more recent days of playing with the Hookers in South Florida.

A service to honor John’s life will be held on April 2, 2024 at 10:30am at the Glick Family Funeral Home located at 3600 N. Federal Highway, Boca Raton, FL.  After this, John will be laid to rest at South Florida National Cemetery at 12:30pm located at 6501 S. State Road 7, Lake Worth, FL.  Following this, the family will be hosting a celebration of life reception at 2:30pm located at Deer Creek Country Club, 2801 Deer Creek Country Club Boulevard, Deerfield Beach, FL.

John Joseph Morabito will be remembered as someone who brightened so many lives with his story-telling, charisma, and character.  He will be remembered as a loving husband, father, grandfather, brother, and friend.  His warmth, wisdom, and the joy he brought to every gathering will be deeply missed by all who had the pleasure of knowing him.
