Obituary

Our brother John Edward Major (Boomer, Johnny) is in paradise! John being born in April of 1956, sadly passed away after battling ALS on August 22nd. He came into the world as a child of Mary and Ed Major. He left in the arms of our Heavenly Father. John made the most important decision in his life when he recognized his need for a savior. When he recognized he was not good enough... when he saw himself as a sinner... when he praised God for this illness, because otherwise he would not have turned to Him.

From Friday, April 13, 1956 Till Tuesday, August 22, 2023. In between those 24,603 days John who was born in Queens NY, resided in Buffalo NY, Warrick RI, Plymouth Mi and finally in Boca Raton Florida. John lived his life for others, keeping in contact with those who crossed his path, remembering them with cards, letters, and phone calls.

John was a postal carrier in Boca Raton, your everyday mailman!, For 35 years John never failed to deliver the mail… he just never returned to the office early enough after completing his duties because he loved the people he delivered to! John was fortunate to know his fellow carriers and recognized them as the best co-workers. He loved the chemistry and community that they shared.

Growing up, John played baseball and wrestled in high school. He continued to play on various sports teams all his life, recognized for his defense more so than his offense. Hockey was his favorite.

While John never married, he was never alone. He lived and loved and left behind 3 brothers and 3 sisters.  John will be remembered and survived by Brother Paul and wife Jan Major and daughter Julie and husband Kevin Callis and their children Harper and Cullen, daughter Kari Major and significant other Craig Thivierge.  Sister Mary and husband Wayne Brodeur, son Michael & wife Blair, daughter Christine and husband Alan Leonard.  Sister Frances and husband Michael Papamichael, son Steven and daughters Leana, Maryna and husband Ali Abla and son Hassan.  Brother Matthew Major and daughter Samantha and husband Jordan Hernandez, daughter Alexandra with former wife Karen and fiancée Kerline Jean and daughter Amelia Major.  Sister Patricia and husband Geoff Gaudoin, son Geoffrey and wife Leah and their children Evelyn and Greyson, son Andrew and wife Glenna and their son Aaron, and daughter Megan and Husband Mario Salazar.  Brother Ed Major and wife Kate, and their daughters Sarah, Sophia, and Arielle.
