World War II Marine veteran, John J. Gill, age 100, was peacefully lifted into the arms of our Savior on Saturday, June 29, 2024, while in his home surrounded by his loving family. He was born on January 29th, 1924 in Milwaukee, WI. He married the love of his life Delores J. Gill (Dalton) on June 12th, 1948 in Milwaukee, where they began their family and had 5 beautiful children. They moved their family to Ft. Lauderdale, FL in 1969 and have lived in their current residence since 1977. They’ve been active members of Ft. Lauderdale Baptist Church since 1979 where John served as an usher and volunteered in the Evangelism Explosion ministry. John was a jack of all trades with a knack for being a hardworking and great businessman- dabbling in the restaurant, bakery, painting, and real estate businesses throughout his lifetime. He was a loving husband and father, a proud provider, and a great dancer. He loved traveling, playing cards with his family, cooking, shopping for deals at the swap shop and at local pawn shops, and holding Delores’ hand. John J. Gill is survived by his wife, Delores J. Gill; his children, Terry Gill (Jan), Greg Gill (Maryflor), Rick Gill, Deborah Tyre (Gary), Chris Gill (Lisa); 15 grandchildren; 33 great grandchildren; and 3 great-great grandchildren.
