Joan Whitehead Obituary

Joan B. Whitehead, 93, passed away on August 22, 2020, with her family by her side.  Born in Irwin, PA on October 10, 1926, Jo was the wife to pre-deceased John G. Whitehead, mother to Claudia Whitehead (Tom Birnie), Terrill Jaroszewicz (Jash Jaroszewicz), and Darci Whitehead (Terry Boston), and grandmother to Abigail Jaros and Ian Whitehead-Scanlon.  Jo was the sister to Bunny Gillman and was pre-deceased by her sisters Jean Zimmerman and Millie Zorzi.

Throughout Jo’s life, she never ceased to have a smile on her face.  Along with her strength, her smile was contagious to every person she met, spreading the joy and zeal she had for life to others.  Jo spent her last years at The Forum in Deerfield Beach where she enjoyed the company of her friends and staff, playing bridge, bingo, and dancing.  When it came to dancing, all Jo wanted to do was find someone to dance with her after the passing of her late husband, Robert A. Mycoff, and now we know she is up in Heaven getting to do so.

With her daughters living beyond Florida as far as New York and DC, Jo enjoyed getting together with family and playing poker, drinking white Russians, and dancing with anyone willing.

Due to Coronavirus, her funeral is private.  Many of us will miss Jo, but her smile and spirit will always live on.
