Joan Veronica Turek

Joan V. Turek, 94, of Boca Raton, FL, passed away on Wednesday, May 15, 2024, in Boynton Beach, FL. 

Joan Veronica Turek was born February 4, 1930, with her twin sister Philomena, in Hudson, NY (Columbia County) to Fredrick Bucci and Teresa Molinski.  Joan married Floyd (Bud) Turek on September 19, 1948.  They had 3 sons, Bruce, Michael and Paul.  They resided in Hudson until they moved to Saugerties, NY in 1957.  In 1978 they moved with IBM to Boca Raton, Fl., to their dream location where they enjoyed the Florida sunshine and lifestyle.  

Joan was a homemaker her whole life.  She dedicated her life to helping and caring for her husband and sons and later, her grandchildren. Joan always enjoyed crafting and creating.  She was very good at sewing, knitting and crocheting. In her younger years, she designed and crocheted afghans to give to friends and family. Joan became quite accomplished in calligraphy, creating beautiful cards and specializing in wedding announcements.    In her later years, she spent hours on her computer, teaching herself different programs.  She took great pride in creating her own personalized greeting cards to send to her family for all occasions.  Joan was also involved with her church and taught religious education class as well as doing volunteer bookkeeping for St. Mary’s in Saugerties.   

Joan was predeceased by her husband Bud and her son Michael as well as her sisters, Marion and Philomena. 

 She is survived by her sons, Bruce (Suella) Turek, and Paul (Frances) Turek, 6 grandchildren, Melissa Rose, Andrew, Austin, Ashlee, Kelsey and Casey as well as 3 great grandchildren, Chase, Emma, and Harper.  

 A funeral mass will be celebrated at St Joan of Arc Catholic Church in Boca Raton, FL on Thursday, June 13th at 11am, followed by interment at the Boca Raton Mausoleum.
