Dear Friends,
It is with deep sadness that we share the news of the passing of Joan Marie Sherman on Friday, May 22, 2026. Joan passed through this life and entered life eternal at the age of 92.
A lifelong Episcopalian, Joan lived a faithful, fruitful, and blessed life. She was married for 55 years to the Rev. Harry B. Sherman, Jr. She has been a faithful member of St. Gregory’s Episcopal Church in Boca Raton, where her son Andrew serves as Rector.
For the past seven years, Joan resided at St. Andrew’s Estates in Boca Raton, FL, where she also participated faithfully in the life of the Episcopal community there. She was known for her deep love for our Lord and for her family, her infectious laughter, and her many gifts and passions, including quilting, reading, and preserving her family’s history.
Joan’s warmth, faith, and joyful spirit touched the lives of many. She is survived by her children: Christopher and Cydney Sherman; Andrew and Anita Sherman; Gregory and Ann Sherman; and Janine and Michael Ball. Her beloved grandchildren also survive her: Ashley Ball, Stephen Ball, Allyson Ball; Jacob Sherman, Hannah (Sherman) Norris and Jacob Norris; Sarah Sherman and Fahmil Shah; Ariel Sherman and Chloe Sherman; Nicholas Sherman; and Margaret Neville.
A memorial service will be held on Saturday, June 6 at 2:00 PM at St. Gregory’s Episcopal Church (100 NE Mizner Blvd, Boca Raton FL 33432) in the Sanctuary.
The service will also be livestreamed and can be viewed on St. Gregory's homepage, YouTube page, and Facebook page.
A reception will immediately follow in Harris Hall.

O God, who by the glorious resurrection of your Son Jesus Christ destroyed death and brought life and immortality to light: Grant that your servant Joan, being raised with Him, may know the strength of His presence and rejoice in His eternal glory; who with You and the Holy Spirit lives and reigns, one God, for ever and ever. Amen.
