In Loving Memory of Joan Nast "Joanie"
Joan Nast, a devoted advocate for children and a beacon of compassion in her community, passed away at the age of 83 in Deerfield Beach, Florida. She was born on February 15, 1943, in the Bronx, New York, famously arriving on one of the coldest winter days, delivered by her Uncle Dinty.
At just 14 years old, Joan met the lover of her life, Robert Nast, during a hayride - an encounter that blossomed into a lifelong partnership rooted in faith, dedication, and unwavering love. Together, they raised three children who were the pride of her life: Robert "Amy Roberts wife", Darren, and Yvette.
Joan was blessed with four grandchildren - Joshua, Joel, Jacob, and Amanda - and as a great-nanny to Ayce. She is preceded in death by her parents, Mary and Emmitt Lyons and Jim Gard where they raised the children in Putnam Valley, NY. Joan was one of eight siblings and is survived by Lisa, Tina, Maryjane, Ursula, Carol, Kathleen, and Pete, along with an extended family that included sixty-two first cousins.
Guided by her deep faith in Jesus Christ, Joan dedicated her life to helping children with special needs and distress. Her calling led her to found God's Little Acres, a nonprofit ranch created as a place of healing, support, and joy for seriously ill children and their families. For more than 30 years, Joan's mission touched countless lives and brought hope to families navigating the most difficult moments of their lives.
In addition to her charitable work, Joan was a successful real estate entrepreneur and a beloved member of her community. She enjoyed golfing, volunteering with local church organizations, fundraising, and teaching children. Joan and Bob found great joy by traveling for many years, as volunteers with: World Wide Healing Ministries serving people. Her infectious smile opened hearts everywhere she went, allowing her to share her faith with warmth and grace.
A diligent student of Scripture, Joan often recited Proverbs 3:5,6 - "Trust in the Lord with all thine heart and lean not on your own understanding. In all thy ways acknowledge him, and he shall direct thy paths." It was a verse that shaped her journey and guided her compassion.
In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests donations to God's Little Acres non profit 501(C)(3) organizations. Contributions will be forwarded to the supporters, families, and organizations who helped bring her mission to life. God's Little Acre or by mail to God's Little Acre, C/O Robert Nast, 1943 SW 16th Place, Deerfield Beach, FL 33442.
Joan leaves behind a legacy of love, kindness, and community - a legacy that will continue to shine through every life she touched.
"His Lord said unto him, "Well done, good and faithful servant... Enter thou into the joy of the Lord." - Matthew 25:23
