Jimmy Cecil Heavner, age 73, passed away on June 19, 2024 in Boca Raton, Florida. Jim entered the world on October 29, 1950 in Knoxville, TN. He was the son of the late Cecil and Marie Heavner and grew up in Valdese, NC. Jimmy proudly served in the United States Marine Corps from 1968-1970. He owned his own successful business, Heavner Concrete, Inc. for over 30 years. Jim enjoyed the adrenaline rush of drag racing, his greatest hobby and lifelong passion. In 2000 he earned the well-deserved title of Fun Ford World Champion. He knew everything about cars, had a wicked sense of humor, and never met a dog who didn’t instantly love him from the very first belly rub or bite of steak snuck under the table.
Jimmy is survived by his wife of 45 years, Jan (Erickson) Heavner, his daughters Sarah ( Fredrik) Henriksson of Hudiksvall, Sweden, Kate Heavner of Asheville, NC, and Laura Heavner of Boca Raton, FL. He is also survived by grandchildren Rilee, Stellan, and Axel and brother Phillip (Martha) Heavner. Jimmy loved his family including many nieces, nephews, cousins, aunts, and uncles residing in Florida and North Carolina. He had a profound impact on those who were fortunate enough to know him. Jim will be deeply missed and fondly remembered by his friends and family.
A private family service will be held. Memorial contributions may be made in lieu of flowers to Wounded Warriors http://support.woundedwarriorproject.org.
