Janet Claire Altman passed away peacefully in the arms of her husband Peter, at 7:39pm, February 14, 2026, at her residence in Boca Raton, FL. She was eighty-one.
Janet was born April 8, 1944, in Philadelphia, PA, to the late William and Violet Garber. Only Janet’s career accomplishments surpassed her extraordinary beauty. After moving to Wyndmoor, PA, Janet graduated from Girls High in Philadelphia and went on to earn a degree in Nutrition at Drexel University. Janet began her career in corporate catering at the University of Pennsylvania, went on to hone her profession at Wyeth Labs and finally landed at the then-fledgling US Healthcare where she conducted a twenty-year tenure feeding the US Healthcare staff in five cities, designing kitchens and menus along the way. Janet co-authored a cookbook specially written for heart-healthy living, counseled heart attack victims how to eat healthily, in coordination with the Metropolitan Hospital Heart Unit, Philadelphia, while throughout her life created and presented the most beautiful, delicious meals and banquets for friends, family and corporate types as well.
Janet is survived by her husband, Peter Altman, 83, two children from her first husband, David Zamsky, Marc Zamsky and April Rosenberg, and six grandchildren, Jordyn Schneeweiss, Rachel Zamsky, Alec Rosenberg, Alison Zansky, Evan Rosenberg and Jonathan Zamsky.
There will not be a service or shivah.
