James “Jimmy” Jacobs, age 81, passed away suddenly at his in home in Boca Raton, Florida.
Born in 1944 in St. Louis, Missouri to Herman and Rose Jacobs, Jimmy grew up in St. Louis were he was an Eagle Scout and developed a lifelong love of fishing & hunting.
He received his bachelor’s degree and an M.B.A. from Washington University in St. Louis. Jimmy served in the Army for 6 years and was honorably discharge from in 1974.
After graduating Jimmy moved to New York City where he met and married Sharon Powers. Together they embarked on a life filled with shared learning, travels and adventures.
Hired by Macys, Jimmy quickly rose to an executive position and enjoyed a career in retail before retiring from Ross. His career included relocations to Hong Kong, Atlanta, San Franscisco and Los Angeles, were he and Sharon embraced all the local environments had to offer. In retirement, Jimmy and Sharon settled in Boca Raton, were he continued to pursue his passion for being on the ocean, fishing and shooting. A lifelong learner, Jimmy continued to master new skills and kept himself physically active. Jimmy also enjoyed regular lunches with his friends.
He is survived by his wife, Sharon, his sisters, Roberta and Beverly, various nieces and nephews, and several close and trusted friends.
A memorial gathering will be held at noon on Friday, November 14 at Glick Family Funeral Home. A private burial will be held at a later date in a National Cemetery.
