James Alan Yaroch April 13, 1951- December 19th, 2024
The Heavens received their own gift this holiday season when God welcomed back James A Yaroch on December 19 at 4am. James lived a vibrant and dynamic life that left an indelible mark on those who knew and loved him.
James, also known affectionately as Jimmy, lived in many places that shaped who he was, after his birth at Saint Joseph Merry hospital in Detroit Michigan. He enjoyed most of his days in Saugatuck, Michigan & Boca Raton, Florida.
Throughout his life James embraced a variety of passions and careers. He worked as a model, a stunt actor and held his certificate of cosmetology for most of his life. His love of fashion and interior design was evident in all he did, and he had a deep affection for all of the dogs that brought him so much peace and happiness. His biggest success was launching a small seasonal business called Hoopdee Scootee in Saugatuck. Once you went to Hoopdee Scootee, you always went back, if you went to Saugatuck, you went to Hoopdee Scootee. It was a store for everyone. The benefit to the community it created was the laughter it provided. It was known for its novelty and creativity. Hoopdee Scootee became a town landmark because of the mannequin legs that adorned the center of the storefront awning for over 35 years.
He is survived by many friends and chosen family members who Jimmy laughed with and loved dearly. He will remain in the hearts of many, including his partner and best friend of 43 years, Neil Atherton; his two children Christopher and Blair, as well as their spouses, Tammy and Jarid; his grandchildren Connor and Cooper as well as cousins and nephews.
Jimmy was a best friend, a brother, a parent, a grandparent, and friend. Jimmy was a beautiful soul who always put those he loved before himself. His legacy of creativity, determination and love will continue to inspire those who knew him. May his memory bring comfort and a smile to all who mourn his passing.
James Alan Yaroch’s life will be honored and celebrated on January 25, 2024 at 1:00pm at Glick Family Funeral Home, located at 3600 N Federal Highway, Boca Raton, FL 33431.
