James “Jim” Wharton, 72, passed away on May 7, 2026, after courageously fighting a long health battle.
Jim was born on April 14, 1954, in Miami and grew up in Delray Beach, Florida. He was preceded in death by his parents, Betty and Robert Wharton, and his brother-in-law, Steven Pike.
Jim was a devoted and loving husband to Sandra Wharton, and theirs was a love story in the truest sense, two people who became so perfectly intertwined that one was simply incomplete without the other. Together they built a deeply cherished life at the heart of a large, blended family whom Jim loved wholeheartedly.
He is survived by his beloved wife, Sandra Wharton; his sister, Juanita Pike; his brother-in-law and sister-in-law, Steve and Judy Heller; his stepchildren, Stacy and Keith Levey, Lori and Andrew Steiner, and David and Dana Spiwak; his cherished grandchildren, Madelaine and Justin Mann, Slater Levey and Danielle Purdy, Allison and Matthew Cohen, Jamie Steiner, Ethan Steiner, Tyler Spiwak, Sammy Spiwak, and Jake Spiwak; his beloved great-grandchildren, Jade and Logan Levey and Scarlett Mann; and his nieces and nephews, Amy and Steve Don, and Marc Heller.
Jim dedicated many years of service to the City of Boca Raton as a Network Analyst, where he was respected for his sharp mind, professionalism, and willingness to help others.
He was a man of many passions and enjoyed playing guitar, golfing, boating, motorcycles, and shooting sports.
Jim will be remembered as genuine, compassionate, thoughtful, fiercely intelligent, and always welcoming with a warm smile. Above all, Jim was a devoted Christian who loved Jesus deeply, and his faith remained a source of strength and comfort throughout his life.
