James Howard Wayes, 85 of Boca Raton, Florida passed away peacefully on October 30, 2024, at his home surrounded by family.
Jim was born April 10, 1939 in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania to the late Howard and Elsie (Hevener) Wayes. Jim graduated from South Philadelphia High School and after graduation he joined the U.S. Air Force where he served active and reserve duty for 6 years. During that time, Jim met and married the love of his life Phyllis (Grisolia) in 1961, they were happily married for over 63 years. Jim joined IBM where he had a successful career for over 36 years, hired initially to fix typewriters. During his time at IBM, Jim was promoted to increasingly more responsible positions eventually becoming an Executive in the Systems Engineer and Professional Services departments. While at IBM Jim went to Saudi Arabia and helped open the Saudi Business Machines Office.
Jim enjoyed travelling and while living overseas he and his wife Phyllis traveled extensively around the world. Jim was avid golfer, enjoyed betting on horse racing and loved to sing, especially Frank Sinatra Ballads.
Jim is survived by his loving wife Phyllis, his daughter Colette (James) Wilbanks of Denver, Colorado, grandchildren Olivia (Frank) Montalvo, grandson Elliot Taylor both of Denver, Colorado, and his sister Nancy (Tom) Trevino of Carlsbad, California. Jim was proceeded in death by his son, Joseph Wayes.
A Memorial Service in his Honor will be held at 2:30pm on December 6, 2024 at Glick Family Funeral Home 3600 N. Federal Highway, Boca Raton, FL. Immediately following family and friends are invited to a dinner reception at Arturo’s Restaurant 6750 N. Federal Highway, Boca Raton, FL.
