Our beloved James Stanley Ricer Jr. passed away peacefully at his home in Boca Raton, Florida on October 26, 2023 at the age of 82. He is survived by his wife Linda Bell Ricer. He was born to James Stanley and Mary Ricer in Baltimore, Maryland on October 6, 1941.
His childhood in Baltimore was filled with the Catholic faith, customizing his Chevy, playing in the woods with his sister, blue crabs, and where he learned perseverance. Jim joined the Air Force and was stationed at Seymour Johnson Air Force Base in Goldsboro, North Carolina where he fell in love with Linda Bell. They were married on November 25, 1962 and moved to Linthicum Heights, Maryland to start their family.
Jim leaves behind his daughter Mary-Rachel and husband Scott Pray, son Jimmy Ricer III, daughter Nicole and husband John Barrett. Jim is also survived by his sister Betty and her husband Sonny Goldstein.
Jim’s favorite role was that of a grandparent. He treasured time with his seven grandchildren Caroline and Colton Pray, Jay and Mackenzie Ricer, Madison, Vivian, and Grayson Barrett. He loved being their Poppa, giving them horsey bites and telling them about his many adventures.
Jim was passionate about his career at IBM, joining the honored Quarter Century Club before retiring. He enjoyed traveling with Linda, watching travel shows, convertible muscle cars, reading mystery novels, orchids, the Florida Gators, boating, golf, making beignets, and raising butterflies. His memory will live on in all those that loved him.
The visitation will be held at Glick Family Funeral Home on Sunday, November 5th from 6:30-8:30 pm. The funeral will be held Monday, November 6th at 11:00 am at St. Joan of Arc Catholic Church in Boca Raton, Florida.
