On Tuesday, October 25, 2022, the world unexpectedly lost a great man. James Mark Ostrowski (Jim) passed away at the age of 74. Jim resided in Boca Raton, Florida with Carol, his beloved wife of over 52 years. He is also survived by his sister, Ann Crowshaw Martinez of Port St. Lucie (husband Jose); his three children--Stacy Howard Louizos (husband John), James Mark Ostrowski, Jr. (wife Patricia) and Holly Ann Ostrowski; and his grandchildren, Zachary James Louizos and James Mark Ostrowski III, as well as several cousins and nephews.
Jim was born in Providence, Rhode Island to Norbert Albert and Eleanore Ostrowski. He received his business degree from Bryant University in 1970. He began his career as a Marketing Brand Manager for the Colgate Palmolive Company. A charismatic and visionary leader, he worked at the Sara Lee Corporation for the majority of his career, including as President & CEO of Sara Lee/ Hanes Underwear and Vice President of the Sara Lee Corporation and President & CEO of Sara Lee Corporation Branded Apparel Latin America, where he spearheaded the start-up and expansion of operations to those countries. During retirement, he continued to provide strategic planning and organization development advice to various companies, including serving in the role of CEO and President. In addition, Jim mentored many people throughout his lifetime who all valued his business acumen and practical, insightful and wise guidance. Among his many counseling roles, Jim served as an Advisor for the Florida Atlantic University College of Education Executive Leadership Study and contributed to the book, The Strategic Leader.
Jim was an avid golfer and sports enthusiast. Among various community activities, he was a volunteer for and served on the Board of Directors of Hospice by the Sea and previously served on the Board of Governors of Royal Palm Yacht and Country Club. Jim was dedicated to his family members, who were his pride and joy. Right up to the last day of his life, he was always there to provide advice and support to his family and friends. He loved to play golf and talk about the meaning of life with his grandson, Zach, and to root for the New England Patriots with his other grandson, Jimmy. Jim was a friend to all and known for his charisma, sense of humor and generosity of spirit.
A funeral mass will be held at St. Lucy Catholic Church in Highland Beach, Florida on Tuesday, November 1, 2022 at 10:30 am. In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests that donations be made to Hospice by the Sea/trustbridge or Youth on Course.
