James J. McGowan

James J. McGowan, 85, of Boca Raton passed away on Friday, October 22, 2021 at his home.

Jim was born on October 13, 1936 in East Rockaway, Long Island, New York to the late William J. & Margaret C. McGowan.  He was a graduate of Chaminade High School in Mineola, Long Island.  After graduating Jim joined the army at the age of 17 and served 3 years, mostly in Livorno, Italy.  He attended  St. Michael’s College in Colchester, VT.  He was a lifelong employee of Shorewood Packaging in New York and LaGrange, GA.

Jim was preceded in death by his son Kevin, brother Rev. William J. McGowan S.J, and his sister Rita M. Sheehan.  He was the devoted husband of Alice, loving father of Susan, loving stepfather of Debbie, and Pops to Megan, Kevin, Connor and Sara. He is also the loving brother of Mary Sprague, Margaret Schuhle, and Kathleen McGowan.

A gathering of family and friends will be held from 2-4 PM on Saturday, October 30 at Glick Family Funeral Home in Boca Raton.
