Ida Raccagni
December 11, 1919 – December 23, 2021 (age 102)
In Loving Memory of Ida Raccagni
Ida Raccagni claimed her eternal reward on Thursday, December 23, passing away peacefully at her home in Delray Beach. She had celebrated her 102nd birthday less than two weeks before. She is survived by her daughter Joan Mackey, her son-in-law Stephen Mackey, and her grandchildren Jennifer and Douglas
Ida was born on December 11, 1919, in Borgo Val di Taro, Italy, the fourth of five children of Angelo and Marina Zecca. She lived there until the age of nineteen when she emigrated to the United States with her mom. She lived in New York City where she met and married the love of her life, Angelo Raccagni in 1948. They lived in New York until they moved to Florida in 1980 to be nearer to their daughter. They enjoyed their brand-new home in Delray Beach together until Angelo passed away in June of 1985.
Ida’s family was always the most important thing in her life. She could always be counted on to help any family member in need at any time. She filled her time after her husband passed by taking care of her two grandchildren and just loved her time with them. Nothing made her happier.
Ida also enjoyed doing crewel embroidery and created some magnificent pictures for her family and friends using the skill that she learned from the nuns in Italy when she was a young girl. Another of her passions was gardening, and she always was surrounded by beautiful flowers in her yard. She could make any plant flourish but especially loved amaryllis blossoms and roses of all colors.
Ida was a wonderful mother, grandmother and friend and was a role model for all of us. We were blessed to have had her in our lives for so many years, and we benefitted from her great wisdom about life.
While we will surely miss her, we are comforted to know that she is resting with the angels, and that she joined them just in time to help them celebrate Jesus’ birthday on Christmas day. She is enjoying the company of her dear mom and dad, and her siblings Desolina, Dina, Guido and Gino, and her husband Angelo, who all meant so much to her.
Family and Friends will be received at the Glick Family Funeral Home, 3600 North Federal Hwy., Boca Raton, FL, from 4 pm to 7 pm on Thursday, December 30, 2021. An 11:00 AM funeral mass will be held on Friday, December 31, 2021, at St. Vincent Ferrer Catholic Church - 840 George Bush Blvd., Delray Beach, FL. Following mass, internment will be at Palm Beach Memorial Park, 3691 Seacrest Blvd., Lantana, FL.
