Gerald “Jerry” Baggett, a devoted husband and father and resident of Boca Raton, Florida, passed away peacefully at home on October 21, 2020, and went to be with his Lord at the age of 66. Jerry is survived by his wife, Cathy Baggett (nėe Baudry); his children, Dr. Christy Baggett, Lindsey (Josh) Beaty, David Baggett, granddaughter Emma Beaty, and beloved dogs, Max and Mabel. He is predeceased by his parents, Carey and Catherine Baggett. 

 

Jerry was born on September 14, 1954, to Carey and Catherine Baggett. He graduated from the University of Florida in 1979 with a Bachelor of Science in business administration. He worked in sales for Anixter and then as an account manager for Presidio for over twenty years. Over the course of his career he earned his RCDD/NTS certification. On February 4, 1984, he married his sweetheart, Cathy, a medical technologist.They met in New Orleans, Louisiana, and shared thirty-six years of marriage together.

 

Jerry was a loving husband and father, avid fisherman, and skilled musician. He enjoyed the outdoors and was admired by his family for his ability to problem-solve and develop creative solutions whether it be working on his boat, his home, or his guitars. He thrived on social interaction and was the life of the party and center of his home. He served as a guitarist for his church’s band for years. He will be remembered for his profound love for his family, his unwavering faith, his kindness toward others, his gracious and appreciative attitude, his captivating storytelling skills, his optimistic outlook, his easy sense of humor which brought laughter to those around him, his musical gifting, his level-headed calm approach to life, his ability to fix anything around the house whether it be mechanical or electrical, and the joy that he brought to all who knew him. 

 

He will be deeply missed by his family and friends. While he did not have siblings, he considered the following to be his brothers: Dale, Sam, Ralph, and Dave.

 

The family wishes to thank friends and family for their support and prayers during Jerry’s cancer journey.

 

A viewing is scheduled for October 26th 2020 at 10 am with a funeral service at 11 am at Glick Funeral Home. Pastor Rese Jackson will officiate and will be accompanied by his wife, Worship Pastor Jenya Jackson. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations to be made in Jerry’s name to the Prostate Cancer Foundation with the hope that advancements in prostate cancer research will benefit beloved husbands, fathers, and sons around the world.
