Genoeffa (Gina) Nestico, a loving wife, mother, grandmother, and friend, passed away on August 6, 2024, at the age of 87, in her West Milford, New Jersey home. Born in New Jersey, Gina spent most of her life here. Gina is survived by her husband, Michael A Nestico, son and daughter-in-law Michael and Elise Nestico, son-in-law Agustin Barchuk and grand children Alessia, Andrea, Vanessa and Massimo. Gina will be re-united with her daughter, Terri Ann, In Heaven.
In 1955, Gina studied and worked on her vocal training in Italy for 14 months. She then returned to the States and graduated from Passaic High School, where she then pursued her music career full-time. At 19 years old, she was singing professionally in different settings. As a professional singer, she performed in lead roles, including in the operas Aida, La Bohème, Tosca, Faust, and Madame Butterly, to name a few. Other classical performances were performed in Carnegie Hall, The 500 Club, WOV radio, and La RAI radio. In addition to her great accomplishments as a singer, she had the opportunity to perform alongside Dean Martin, Frank Sinatra, and Shirley MacLaine.
In 1960, Gina met the love of her life, Michael, and got married the following year in 1961. Through the 63 years that they were married, Gina and Mike welcomed their daughter Terri and son Michael Jr. to the world. Upon having her children, Gina decided to stop her singing career and work with her husband to manage their pharmacies and gift shops that were located in New Jersey, New York, and Florida.
Gina will always be remembered for her outgoing personality, drive, and her love for Christ. Many know her as the “Jesus lady” because she shared her experience of witnessing a cloud formation of the lord. She was not afraid to talk to anyone and always wanted to bring people closer to Jesus.
The viewing will be held Friday, August 9th at Richards Funeral Home 4 Newark Pompton Turnpike, Riverdale, NJ 07457 from 4:00-7:00 pm and a Funeral Mass will be held at St. Joan of Arc Catholic Church, 370 Southwest 3rd St., Boca Raton, FL 33432 at 11:00 a.m. on Wednesday, August 14th; all are welcome.
