Gail Kelly Walker

Gail Kelly Walker passed away peacefully on July 26, 2026, at the age of 86. Though her family mourns her loss, they celebrate a life defined by unwavering faith, boundless generosity, extraordinary talent, and a love that welcomed everyone who crossed her threshold.

Born on November 5, 1939, in NewYork, New York, Gail was the daughter of Michael and Dorothy Kelly. Her Catholic faith was the cornerstone of her life. As a young woman, she entered the Missionary Servants of the Most Blessed Trinity in Philadelphia as a postulant, discerning a vocation to religious life. Although she ultimately chose a different path, the compassion, humility, and devotion she cultivated there remained with her throughout her life.

In 1963, fate intervened during a youth group outing to Club Sharee on Long Island, where Gail met the club's owner and bartender that evening,  James Francis Walker. Their chance meeting blossomed into a lifelong love story, and they were married in September 1965. Together they built a home filled with laughter, faith, and unconditional love. In 1969, following doctors' recommendations that a warmer climate would benefit their young son's asthma, the family moved to Boca Raton, Florida.

To her family, Gail was the heart of the home. To countless neighborhood children, she became a second mother. Her kitchen was always open, her table always full, and her welcome never depended on circumstance. She often said, "No child will ever be hungry if they are in my home." Those words were not simply a sentiment—they were a promise she faithfully kept.

Entirely self-taught, Gail possessed remarkable gifts in the kitchen. Her cooking and baking became legendary among family and friends. Nothing brought her greater joy than gathering people around her table. Proud of her Irish heritage, she especially delighted in hosting the family's annual St. Patrick's Day celebration, lovingly preparing food months in advance.

Her creativity extended far beyond the kitchen. Gail was an exceptionally gifted seamstress whose craftsmanship was admired by all who knew her. She lovingly created blankets, dresses, baptismal gowns, and treasured keepsakes for generations of family and friends. Professionally, she hand-stitched intricate flags and banners with a precision so extraordinary that work once done by her hands is now largely accomplished by computerized machines.

Above all else, Gail gave of herself without hesitation. She loved deeply, sacrificed quietly, and found her greatest happiness in caring for others. Her children will forever remember the countless ways she put their needs before her own, creating opportunities and a life they might never have known without her strength and devotion.

Gail is survived by her sister, Julann “Sue” Palmgren; her brother, Thomas Brandon; her children, Sean Walker (fiancée Tammy Palmgren), Maureen Ponder, Timothy Walker, and Brian Walker (Girlfriend Lisa Azzaro); and her beloved grandchildren, Blaine and Andrew. She was preceded in death by her devoted husband, James Francis Walker; her parents, Michael and Dorothy Kelly; and her brother, Kenneth Kelly.

Those fortunate enough to know Gail will remember her gentle grace, quick laughter, generous spirit, and remarkable ability to make every person feel like family. Her legacy is measured not by accomplishments alone, but by the thousands of meals she shared, the garments she lovingly stitched, the children she comforted, and the lives she quietly transformed through simple acts of kindness.

A gathering of family and friends will be held from 3-3:30 PM on Saturday, August 8 at Glick Family Funeral Home in Boca Raton.  A Celebration of Gail's life will be held on Saturday, August 8, 2026, at 3:30 p.m. at Glick Funeral Home, 3600 North Federal Highway, Boca Raton, Florida, with a reception for family and friends immediately following.

In keeping with Gail's joyful spirit and deep Irish pride, those attending are invited to wear something green in her honor.
