Francis Foster Obituary

Francis Xavier Foster of Delray Beach, FL and West Harwich, MA, passed away peacefully on November 19, in Boca Raton, Fl.  He was born in Cambridge, MA, to parents Anthony and Martha Foster on May 20, 1927.

He was predeceased by his parents, first wife Frances and five siblings    He leaves behind his wife Patricia, son Francis X. Foster II (Theresa) of West Harwich, MA, granddaughter Patricia Lurvey (Matthew) of Dover, MA and two great granddaughters Penelope Lurvey and Lillian Lurvey.

In his youth he was soloist in the choir of St. Paul Church in Cambridge as well as other local Christian churches.  He thoroughly enjoyed music and entertainment throughout his life.

Frank was an entrepreneur who started many businesses which he later sold.  His pride was in the education business when he founded New England Building Specialties wherein he provided design and complete furnishings of school interiors, particularly parochial schools in the northeast.  He sold his business at a young age retiring to Cape Cod.  There he started his real estate career as owner of F. X. Foster Real Estate in Hyannis, MA, where he built his portfolio of commercial properties.  He was an active member in both Needham and Yarmouth town governments.  His last position was serving as chairman of the Yarmouth Finance Committee.

Frank loved life, living it to the fullest whether on a cruise ship traveling the world (over 150 cruises), golfing or dining with family or friends.  When you were Frank’s friend, you were his friend for life whether or not you wished to be.  He was a unique, kind and generous man who unquestionably loved his family and friends including inheriting Pat’s family.  He treated her brothers as his own siblings.  His sense of humor and fun but realistic outlook will be sorely missed by the many friends he collected over the years.

He was a long- time member of the Hyannis Yacht Club, The Little Club in Gulfstream, FL, the Delray Beach Club, Delray, FL, where he served as president as well as on many committees.
