Florence “Foufa” Faris Khoriaty was born on April 24th, 1941, to Fouad Faris and Tatiana Gribanos, in El Mahala El Kubra, Egypt, and passed away peacefully on May 8th, 2026, in Boca Raton, Florida. After graduating with a Medical Degree from the Faculty of Medicine, Cairo University, the oldest medical school in the Middle East, she married fellow alum Rodolphe “Rudy” Khoriaty and had a loving marriage for 62 years.
Foufa and Rudy immigrated to Lebanon where she established a thriving pediatrics practice. During the Lebanese civil war, Foufa, to provide a better life and opportunity for her family, immigrated once again with her husband and her three children, Eddie, George and Alan – this time to the United States. She built her second pediatrics practice in Bayside, Queens where she became an integral part of the community and was adored by generations of patients and parents.
Foufa was as beautiful on the inside as she was beautiful on the outside. Despite a very busy medical practice, Foufa always found time for her children. Her home was always open to family and friends, and to soon to be friends. Her children’s friends were always welcome, some even thinking of her as a second mom, and some still do many years later. Thanksgiving was always a large gathering of friends and family at her home and, on Christmas, Foufa would always have extra presents wrapped and under the tree in case someone unexpected stopped by.
Whether it’s the waltz or the tango, Foufa loved to dance. Wedding, baptism, birthday, or whatever the occasion, you would often find Foufa and Rudy on the dance floor stealing the show, surrounded by an audience in awe. A member of the West Side Tennis Club, Foufa was also an avid tennis player.
Foufa’s faith was a big part of her life. She attended mass regularly at St Robert Bellarmine Roman Catholic Church.
Foufa is survived by, and will be missed dearly by, her husband, Rudy, her children Eddie, George and Alan, and her grandchildren Danielle, Johnathan, River, Gabrielle, Matthew and Sofia. She will also be missed dearly by all her friends and family and by all those that had the fortune of knowing her.
Funeral mass for Florence will be held at St Joan of Arc Catholic Church in Boca Raton, Florida, on Friday, May 15th at 11:00 am and is open to all who wish to attend. Mass will be livestreamed on YouTube at stjoanofarcboca.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to St Jude Children’s Research Hospital.
