Flavia Feliu, age 103, passed peacefully in her home in the early hours of Sunday March 8, 2026 with her daughter Kay by her side.
Flavia was born on October 5th, 1922, in Bauta, Cuba. She came to New Jersey where she began her life in the United States as a nanny in 1950’s and met the love of her life of 65 years; late Pompeyo Feliu. She then returned to Cuba when her father fell ill and came back to the states and started her life in Florida in the 1960’s.
Her greatest legacy is the one she left behind to her family. She was our matriarch. She taught us lessons through every story she told. She gave her family a strong up bringing; with incredible Cuban family values. She had incredible strength, unconditional love, and was resilient.
She was an empowering woman, she was your right hand; always had your back. She was loyal and faithful to her family to the very end. Flavia was very generous and always giving of herself. She never drove a car but always got around to serve and help others.
She had a passion for cooking; famous for her black beans, Daiquiri's, mangoes and Flan. She enjoyed bird watching, coloring, playing with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren, crocheting, dancing and singing.
Flavia was not only a devoted mother to her two children but also to many adopted children, and extended family whom she took under her wing and cared for. She was also a daughter, a sister, a protector, a friend, a grandmother, a great-grandmother, a hero, and a person who dedicated her life to fulfilling the works for Jesus.
Flavia was the wife of late Pompeyo Feliu, and the daughter of late Jose Villalobo and late Severina Brito. Flavia is survived by her children, Wilfredo (Will) Feliu, and Kay Feliu Isler; her grandchildren, Nicole, Jamie, Tyler, and Kayleigh; her great-grandchildren, Faith, Serenity, and Trinity; Son-inlaw, Jacobe; nieces and nephews; and sister in-laws.
To all who knew and loved her thank you for your support and prayers during this difficult time. Flavia always carried a smile on her face and would want all to carry on the same; chin held high and with a huge smile, knowing she is finally with the Lord. Flavia was known for many names: Fabia, Favia, Mom, Abuela, Aba, Chiquita, Chiqui, but now our heavenly angel. She loved you all deeply.
Her favorite bible verse John 3:16
For God so loved the world that He gave His one and Only Son, Jesus, so that whoever believes in Him will have eternal life.
Celebration of life details to be announced at a future date.
