Eugene Frost Proctor, III, or “Frosty” to his friends and family, departed this life on August 21, 2024 at the age of 88. He is predeceased by his sister Denise and his brother Lincoln.
Frosty was well liked and respected. He has been described as a man of thoughtful intelligence and calm competence. As a child, he loved fishing and boating, a passion that he shared with his brother. This passion grew during his formative years at both his home on Pearl Street in Melrose, MA and summers spent on Cape Cod. As a young man, Frosty graduated from Melrose High School, spent a post-graduate year at Tabor Academy, and then attended Harvard University where he earned a degree in Economics. He had a strong affinity for financial matters, but also mechanics. He loved to work on his car, while his sweetheart, Nancy, looked on adoringly. Frosty married Nancy in the summer of 1960, and they went on to enjoy 64 years of marriage together.
After a few years in the banking industry, Frosty transitioned to Information Technology where he thrived as a computer software salesman, exuding that calm competence that won over countless clients. Devoted to his wife and daughter, Alyssa, Frosty was determined to provide the best environment he could for his family. He purchased a summer cottage on the beautiful shores of Lake Sebago in Maine. Many magical summers were spent swimming, boating, and water-skiing with family and friends, much like the experiences he had had as a child.
Frosty’s passion for cars expanded to airplanes. In the 1970s, he acquired his pilot’s license, bought himself a Cessna 150, and would often commute to the “summer house” over the air instead of the Hwy 95 North drudgery. He was an active member of the Civil Air Patrol and also acquired his instructor’s license so he could teach others to fly.
In his retirement years, Frosty started his own business as a business forms salesman. He also served as a board member and treasurer of the Delray Racquet Club in Delray Beach, FL for many years.
Frosty is survived by his wife Nancy and his daughter Alyssa. There is a void in this world without Frosty in it. He will be deeply missed.
