Esther Schwartzman passed away peacefully May 3, 2024 in Boca Raton, Florida. Born July 10, 1932, and raised in Cuba, Esther lived most of her adult life in Westfield, New Jersey and Boca Raton, Florida. She attended Oberlin College and graduated from the University of Miami and then went for her Masters Degree in Languages at Columbia University, when she met and married her loving husband of 53 years, Sol Schwartzman.
She had many passions…a lifelong learner, she took continuing education classes well into her 80’s. She loved golf, travel, Broadway shows, film, and politics. Esther spoke five languages and loved to sing in all five with her beautiful voice, right up until her last days. She was an extremely proud woman whose lasting legacy was her love and devotion to her family and her positive disposition which was reflected in her beautiful smile and her infectious laugh.
Esther is survived by what she called her “jewels”- Her children, Lesa (Donald), Paul (Michelle) and Robert, her grandchildren Jesse (Becky), Dara, Jason (Alexandra} and Evan and her great- grandchildren, Remy, Reese and Solomon. Her caretaker and companion of 24 years, Nena never left her side.
A graveside ceremony will be held at Beth Israel Memorial Cemetery, Woodbridge NJ on Tuesday, May 7th at 11:15 AM with a luncheon to follow.
