Eric Ginnegar Obituary

On our family cruise we sat by the pool every day had a cocktail together and thankfully spent precious moments together.  More than anything else, including his car collection and ruby glass, Eric loved to make others happy more than life itself.   From his great cooking, especially his brisket on the holidays, to his volunteer work at the Pride Center, he was passionate, full of life and a kind hearted man.

Eric Howard Ginnegar of Wilton Manors, Florida passed away on May 27, 2021 at Trust Bridge Hospice in Boca Raton, FL.

He was born in Brooklyn, New York on July 11, 1945 to his late parents Goldie and Frank Ginnegar.  Eric attended Nassau Community College and went into the US Army and served in Germany as a medic.  His early career worked for Bantam Books in New York prior to moving to Florida to be close to his family. He then joined Federal Express and worked in customer service.  During Eric’s retirement years he worked for Holland America Cruise Lines.  The Holland America crew and coworkers were his second family and he was proud to serve with this majestic cruise company.  Everyone who knew Eric were blessed by his energetic optimism and a whit that never ceased to bring a smile to one’s face.

Eric’s passion for life was exemplified by his celebration of being a gay man and his service to the LGBT community in South Florida. Through his volunteer efforts, and his social network to countless friends and civic organizations, Eric was always bringing joy to those that made his acquaintance.  Many will remember his volunteer commitment to The Pride Center, Reel Men, and the Dolphin Democratic League.  He was also a proud founding member of the Sunshine Athletic Association and the Fort Lauderdale Front Runners.

Eric is survived by his brother Edward Ginnegar and wife Joan, sister Doris Siegel and husband Steve Siegel , nephew Matthew Siegel and wife Tiki, niece Gail Conde,  nephews Peter Ginnegar and wife Joy Ginnegar, Douglas Ginnegar and wife Robin, great nephews Rafael and Alex Conde, Andrew and Timothy Ginnegar and cousins Stephen Ginnegar and his Spouse Eric Van Wagoner, Peter Ginnegar,  David Kampel, Donne Kampel, Rhonda Kampel, Gary Kampel and Mindy ”Myrna” Kampel.
