Ellie passed on Easter Sunday, April 5th, 2026 from complications of Alzheimer’s disease.
Ellie was born on August 7th, 1936 in New York to Edna and Herman Marques. Ellie was the baby of the family, joining siblings Alice, Irene, and Herman Jr. (Rigg).
In 1963, Ellie married James (Jimmy) H. Evans II. The couple welcomed daughter Catherine (Cathy) in 1970.
In 1972, the family moved to South Florida, which they made their permanent home.
Jimmy passed in 1992. In 1996, Ellie married Mario DeFilippis. They traveled and enjoyed their life together until Mario passed in 2007.
Ellie was the beloved grandmother of 2 exceptional grandkids, Kris and Kaitlyn Kornbluth, and 1 adored granddog, Stella.
Ellie is survived by her loving daughter Cathy, son in law Ronnie Kornbluth, grandkids Kris and Kaitlyn, nephews Michael (Kathleen) Barry, and Rick (Betty) Barry, and niece Barbara (Mick) Kalber.
Ellie was the epitome of class and grace, beloved by everyone who was blessed to know her. She will be missed.

We extend a special thanks to Stephanie Sommer, NP of Dr. Nembhards office, Dr. Lopez of Vitas Healthcare, nurse Linda and all the wonderful Vitas staff that lovingly cared for Ellie the past year.
