Dr. William Johnson Jr.

Dr. William (“Dr. Bill”) Johnson, Jr., 84, husband, father, grandfather, and physician passed away peacefully on August 17, 2023, in Boca Raton, Florida.

Dr. Bill leaves behind his wife of 41 years, Alice Boyle Johnson, his son, Jeffrey Johnson, his daughter-in-law Elizabeth Furr Johnson, his stepson, Justin Miller, and his grandchildren, Kimberly, Matthew, and Thomas. He is pre-deceased by his parents, William Johnson Sr. and Josephine Harvanek Johnson, his first wife, Diana Yanka Johnson and their son, Craig, and his brother, David.

Originally from Southbridge, Massachusetts, Dr. Bill studied medicine at Tufts University in Boston, Massachusetts and was a resident at the Albany Medical Center in New York before joining the United States Air Force.  Proudly serving as a Captain, Dr. Bill was stationed in Myrtle Beach, South Carolina from 1967-1969. While Dr. Bill loved his life in the military, he and his family moved to Boca Raton, Florida in 1969 for the sun and to start his career in Internal Medicine.  Dr. Bill practiced medicine at Boca Community Hospital, where he served as Chief of Medicine from 1976-1978. Dr. Bill retired in 2002 after 33 years of service to his patients and to the community.

Dr. Bill was an avid golfer and loved cruising around the world with his wife, Alice. Together they took over 130 cruises savoring the culture in ports of call from Egypt to Italy, Alaska to Acapulco, and Morocco to Curacao. As everyone who knew Dr. Bill remembers, he also spent many afternoons playing a round of golf or on the deck at Duffy’s Sports Grill, sharing the comradery of friends and colleagues.

Dr. Bill was beloved and admired by his family, friends, and patients and will be remembered for his caring manner and infectious smile. He will be deeply missed. 

A viewing will be held on Wednesday, August 23rd from 4 to 7pm at Glick Family Funeral Home, 3600 North Federal Hwy, Boca Raton, Florida. Dr. Bill will be laid to rest in his hometown of Southbridge, Massachusetts.
