Dr. Peter Robert Sciarretta

Dr. Peter Robert Sciarretta, 88, passed away on Sunday, October 15, 2023 in Fort Lauderdale, Florida. He is survived by his loving wife of 60 years, Enrica, his four children Claudia Sciarretta (Robert Schifano), Lisa Troccoli, Paula (Randy) Anderson and Maria (Larry) Wood, and four grandchildren: Peter Troccoli, and Lillia, Haden and Bradley Anderson. Peter is preceded in death by his elder brother Anthony Sciarretta of Boca Raton and is survived by his younger brother Edmund Sciarretta of Boca Raton. 

Peter was born on February 25, 1935, in Providence, Rhode Island. After graduating from Classical High School and the University of Rhode Island, Peter went on to study medicine at the University of Bologna in Italy. It was during his trans-Atlantic travels that he met the love of his life on a ship to Italy.  

After earning his doctorate as an orthopedic surgeon and completing his residency in Coral Gables, Peter served as a physician in the Navy in New York. He moved with his family to Fort Lauderdale in 1969 where he set up his practice with privileges at Holy Cross and Imperial Point Hospitals. Peter and Enrica were residents of Sea Ranch Lakes for 40 years and were members of St. John the Baptist Catholic Church.  

The family is planning a Private Memorial Service at Our Lady Queen of Heaven in North Lauderdale.
