Anita (Hudson) Boddie, 68, beloved mother to Allen (Ashley) Boddie, passed away January 25, 2026 in Weston, Florida. She was a distinguished scientist, devoted mother, cherished grandmother, and beloved sister and aunt. Born in Wichita, Kansas, Anita’s life journey took her across the globe, and she spent her final years near the ocean in Deerfield Beach.
Anita was a devoted single mother who earned her PhD from Emory University, and built a life defined by resilience, sacrifice, and achievement. In her professional work, Anita was widely respected for her disciplined scientific approach. Above all, Anita was devoted to her family. She found immense joy in being a grandmother to Adam and Abigail Boddie, delighting in their curiosity, growth, and accomplishments.
Anita was also a treasured sister and aunt, known for her kindness, wisdom, and steady encouragement. Her love of nature and the environment was not only a personal passion but a value she shared generously as a volunteer for Gumbo Limbo Nature Center.
Anita’s legacy endures through her family and the many lives she touched. She will be deeply missed and fondly remembered.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Anita's memory to Gumbo Limbo Nature Center.
