Dorothy Evelyn Hennessey, 94, of Port St. Lucie, Fl, passed away on Friday, November 21, 2025. Dorothy Evelyn Hennessey was born in upstate NY on November 20, 1931.
For many years, she and her late sister, Hazel, alongside her mother, Hazel, owned and operated the Ashokan Rest in Ashokan, NY. She went on to have a successful career as an Executive Assistant with both the New York Telephone Company and IBM in Kingston, NY. She married Louis Whalen and began their family. Upon her relocation to Boca Raton, FL, she continued her career as an Executive Assistant in various law firms throughout Palm Beach County.
She is predeceased by her son, Timothy Whalen, and her first husband, Louis Whalen. She is also predeceased by her husband, John Hennessey. She is survived by her daughter, Patricia Whalen, her grand daughters Kendra Maser(Mike) and Amber Sooter (Nick), her great grandchildren Kaila Maser, Michael Maser, Parker Williams and Ella Sooter. She is also survived by her niece and namesake, Dottie Paulus, and nephew Bruce Paulus. Several grandnieces and grandnephews also survive. Dottie was passionate about many things in her life; her family, her Yorkies, the Miami Dolphins, her love of music and real estate.
She will be missed by all her knew her, especially her family.
