Donna McCaffrey Obituary

Donna Londeree McCaffrey, age 77, passed away peacefully January 30, 2023. She
was born November 3, 1945 in Jacksonville, Florida to Nina Louise and William Louis Londeree.
She grew up very close to her little brother whom she cherished, Donald Londeree. Donna
graduated from the University of Florida and was a diehard Gator fan. She followed every move
her beloved Gators made and loved hosting ‘Gator Game’ parties.

Donna started her teaching career outside of Gainesville in Newberry, Florida as an
English teacher. She had the gift of being able to reach each and every student, even the most
struggling writers. After moving to Boca Raton, Florida in 1972 she started working at A.D.
Henderson University School as the media specialist teaching library skills, yearbook, and TV
News. Famously featured on the Today Show for her trailblazer work with students running the
morning TV news she helped put an already stellar school on the map. She went on to serve as
an assistant principal and principal of her beloved Henderson school. The students and
teachers loved her while she referred to herself as the ‘Queen of Mean’. The students knew
she loved them but also knew not to get in trouble with Dr.McCaffrey.

In 1980, she met the love of her life, Hugh (Mac), and they married December 18, 1982.
They built a beautiful life together focused on their children and grandchildren.
Donna was a dedicated mother first and foremost. She treasured her children and grandchildren
and embraced every moment with them. PIcking them all up on Fridays and taking them to
dinner was the highlight of her week. She never missed their important events and traveled to
all of their games ensuring she was there to support their accomplishments.

Donna had an engaging personality and always made people around her feel special
and loved. When she bought Easter baskets she bought lots of extras for all the cousins and
kids in the neighborhood. Donna always made sure that everyone, even someone she just met,
was invited to family parties. In order to spend more time with her grandchildren she transitioned
to FAU’s College of Education and worked mentoring and training aspiring elementary teachers.
She worked weekends traveling around the state with her best friend Mary Gray training
principals and assistant principals on the teacher observation system at the time, FPMS.
Donna’s impact continues to be felt in the field of Education. She finally retired in 2005 to take
another full time job, the BEST one yet, a full time ‘Nonna’ of six grandchildren.

Donna was one of the founding members of Spanish River Church. She loved her Lord
and Savior Jesus Christ and made sure all of her children were raised in the church. Donna and
Mac helped counsel newly married couples together. Her life was a living example of Ephesians
4:32-”And be kind and compassionate to one another, forgiving one another, just as God also
forgave you in Christ.”

Donna is survived by her loving husband Mac who has been by her side caring for her
since she fell ill. She is also survived by her brother Don and wife Kay, son Robert, daughter
Donah, daughter Allison and husband Matthew, daughter Rachel, daughter Jennifer and
husband Patrick, grandchildren Ashleigh, Brianna, Courteney, Sara, Alyssa, Tyler, and
nieces/nephews that were like her own.
