Dominick passed away peacefully on the afternoon of December 23, 2024, with his loving family by his side. Dominick was born on January 17th, 1942, in Springfield, Massachusetts. Dominick was pre-deceased by his loving wife of 57 years, Joanne Parisi and was the father of two daughters, Ellen and Julianne.
Dominick and Joanne lived throughout New England before settling in Deer Isle Maine. There they created many wonderful memories with their family as the Inn Keepers of Goose Cove Lodge. Dominick spent the last 7 years in Florida living in both Deerfield Beach and West Palm Beach.
Dominick was a lifelong learner, avid reader, cyclist, and lover of the outdoors. Dominick achieved two degrees, a Batchelor of Science and his master’s degree in education. He was a member of the Alpha Sigma Phi fraternity and a graduate of The University of Massachusetts at Amherst. As a young man he became an Eagle Scout, a Scout troop leader and then a Science teacher in the Massachusetts public school system. As a self-described futurist, Dominick was a pioneer in the field of Energy Conservation writing curriculum and teaching classes on Solar Energy in the1970’s. He was later named Director the Energy Conservation Service, a program where he wrote policy, trained employees and worked with local governments to champion the work of the original Energy Audits.
In 1980, Dominick became the Deputy Director of Mass Save. Mass Save is a collaborative of Massachusetts Electric and Natural Gas Utilities working with communities to make Energy efficient upgrades. He was recommended for the role by the State Energy Commissioner. He later became the Executive Director and eventually the President in 1990. His responsibilities included, establishing corporate operational policies and procedures, developing and maintaining relations with regulators and governmental bodies, overseeing the management of multiple field offices, preparing and presenting the annual budget to the Department of Public Utilities.
In 1991, Dominick left the Energy field to pursue another dream of becoming an Inn Keeper. Dominick would bring his love of the outdoors to Deer Isle Maine where he and Joanne became Inn keepers. For the next 16 years he shared his love of the outdoors with guests and the local community, teaching classes in forestry, entomology, and astronomy. Dom was also an avid cyclist, riding for many years in the Pan-Mass challenge and later riding the roads of New England and Florida.
Dominick will be greatly missed by his family and friends. He leaves behind his Daughter Ellen Parisi and her Husband Edward Moses of Hypoluxo, Florida, His daughter Julianne Parisi Rioux and her Partner Timothy Cornwell of Andover CT, His sister Diana Hitchcock and her husband Roger Hitchcock of Middleboro, Massachusetts, his grandchildren, Kristen, Steven, Cicelea, David, Brandon, Raegan and Jada, His many nieces, nephews and great-grandchildren.
