Our beloved Dad, Dennis Lucas, age 72, went home to heaven Sunday, May 3, 2020, and is forever reunited with his true love Lynne, as well as, other family and friends who departed this earth before him, while putting their hope and trust in Christ Jesus and His great love and sacrifice for all who believe in Him. Dennis would want you to know how very much God loves each of you, and the great extent our Heavenly Father went to demonstrate that love through his one and only Son, Jesus Christ.
Dennis was born in Bridgeport, Connecticut and moved to Hollywood Beach, Florida at an early age. His family later settled in Fort Lauderdale, in the subdivision of North Andrews Gardens, as his family owned a home there until 2008. Dennis attended Saint Clements, Northeast High School, Cardinal Gibbons High School, Broward State College and Nova Southeastern. He is survived by his four children (Brandy, Jennifer, Kristine, and Michael, along with their wonderful spouses) six grandchildren (Caleb, Daniel, Ethan, Jenna, Ryan and Sarah) and an extended family that misses and mourns our beloved hero.
Our father served proudly as a Fort Lauderdale Firefighter for the 1970's and also managed hotel pool decks, beach concessions, various vending accounts, and gift/office shops throughout South Florida and California. Prior to those business opportunities, he worked just about everywhere, sacrificing much to provide and care for his family. He loved to work, and mostly enjoy the company of family, friends and the people he often met along the way in life's journey.
Additionally, in more recent seasons, he taught Dale Carnegie and Nova Southeastern leadership, business and personal development courses. Later, he started his own training company, and provided class offerings and services to local customers such as, JM Families, Medical Specialists of the Palm Beaches, and other international companies in Italy.
Our dad was an exceptional example to us all in honoring his mom, our grandmother, our family affectionately called her Monna, his wife and our mom Lynne, his brother Joseph and sister Lorainne; all of whom predeceased Dennis.
Next, I think if Dennis could convey words of encouragement to us, he would begin with the words of Jesus imploring us to love one another, as I have loved you. Also, to live the full and abundant life Christ promised in John 10. Similarly, he would challenge us to go boldly, pray, learn, live and take risks, as personal development, growth, and wisdom begin here. So beloved, run the right race, not the rat race, because soon and very soon we are going to see The King!
Lastly, a celebration of life and a tribute to our dad will be planned after our current global pandemic; most likely in mid October 2020. On behalf of our family, thank you for your prayers, love, sympathy cards, kind words, support, care, and help in this painfully difficult season.
Expressions of sympathy in lieu of flowers may be made to the Fort Lauderdale Firefighter's Benevolent, The Lighthouse of Broward, The Boca Raton Firefighter's Benevolent, or the Alzheimer's Association in honor of Dennis.
